The photo is of my mother, who died 50 years ago next year, when I was 14. She was one of those people who you would say "only the good die young". She was taken at the young age of 45 after battling leukemia for 5 years. Back in the late 1950's there were no bone marrow transplants or chemotherapy - only blood transfusions on a fortnightly basis.
