The poem I wrote for my sister-in-law, when we found she had a tumour on her spine.  Thankfully she made it through all the treatment and has come out the other side okay.

1 February 2002

I wanted to shave my head

So I could be bald as well

And if anyone had asked my why

I could tell them about you

- but I didn’t

I want to take away the pain

So you will smile again

I want to take that old cancer

And throw it in the garbage where it belongs

I want to have the chemos

And the needles and all the other nasty things

- but I can’t

All I can do is hold you

And talk with you and cry with you

And try and make you laugh

And be there when you need me

All I can do is love you

- and I do.
